Sheffield United earned a crucial three points in their fight against relegation with a 2-0 home win against Shrewsbury Town.

First half goals from Ryan Flynn and a first goal for the club from Stefan Scougall ensured an important win as they secured their first league win of 2014.

United were hoping to take their FA Cup exploits into their league form and Flynn opened the scoring on eleven minutes when he drilled his low shot past the Shrewsbury goalkeeper.

Within six minutes, Scougall had doubled the lead when his shot found its way into the back of the net.

The win for United moves them above their opposition in the table and they know a win against league leaders Brentford in midweek would lift them out of the bottom four.
