Sheffield United begin their warm-up to the forthcoming 2020-21 season with a pre-season friendly against Scottish side Dundee United at Tannadice Park today (kick-off; 2 pm).

In preparation for the forthcoming 2020-21 Premier League campaign on 14 September at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers, which kicks-off later than usual this year due to COVID-19, the Blades have agreed on several friendlies with Dundee United, Derby County, and Preston North End – all away and behind closed doors. Sheffield United supporters can watch the game online via the official website.

Like the final ten league games of last season, these games along with the start of the new 2020-21 season will be played behind closed doors until further notice, leaving supporters having to watch matches from the comfort of their armchairs.

United failed in their attempt to land a finishing position which would have gained them a place in European competition for the first time in the clubs’ history. They ended the season in ninth (there highest Premier League finish), but ended the season on a sour note, losing their final three fixtures against Leicester City (0-2), Everton (0-1), and Southampton (1-3). Their last league victory came at home to Chelsea (3-0) on 11th July.

For Blades supporters, it will allow those to view their new signings; Aaron Ramsdale, who joined in an £18.5million deal from relegated AFC Bournemouth, and follow goalkeeper Wes Foderingham, who joined on a free transfer from Glasgow Rangers.

Dundee United have already returned to action with their domestic league kicking off on 1st August, and since then the Tannadice Park club have registered victories over Motherwell and Ross County in the five matches they have played in the Scottish Premiership thus far. They also drew 1-1 with St Johnstone on the opening day of the season and were defeated at home by Hibernian. Three days ago they hosted current league Champions Celtic – losing 0-1.
