Sheffield United travel to the Welsh capital city to face Cardiff City this weekend in the final Championship outing before the league takes a break for the FIFA World Cup.

The Premier League and the Championship will play their final fixtures this weekend before a mini break during the commencement of the World Cup, with play due to recommence with the Blades hosting Huddersfield Town on 10th December.

United supporters alike will be hoping that upon return, the club will have players returning from injury and available for selection.

They are expected to be without an extensive list of injuries which consists of defenders; Rhys Norrington-Davies, and Max Lowe (both hamstring), Jayden Bogle, and Jack O’Connell (both knee), as well as midfielders Sander Berge (ligament), and Tommy Doyle (calf), who enjoyed a loan spell with Cardiff last season. The Blades are also without strikers Daniel Jebbison (ligament), and Rhian Brewster (hamstring).

The Blades come into this fixture on the back of a disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to neighbours Rotherham United last Tuesday night – after recording three consecutive victories.

Sheffield United were victorious in our last meeting with the Bluebirds last season, on 23rd April, winning 1-0. Illiman Ndiaye’s goal on 47 minutes proved to be the game’s only goal as Paul Heckingbottom’s side went on to win their final three league games to cement a Play-Off place. The victory had also confirmed the double over Cardiff having won 3-2 at the Cardiff City Stadium earlier in the season.
