Sheffield United’s summer is well underway now, training is ramping up in Portugal under new head of performance Tom Little. United have been busy on the transfer front too by adding Adam Davies, Tommy Doyle, and Anel Ahmedhodzic to the squad.

United have been monitoring the Premier League market a lot this summer, having signed Doyle on loan from Manchester City, and have been linked with a couple of other players with the latest being experienced defender Ciaran Clark.

Yorkshire Live writer for Sheffield United, Nathan Hemmingham, has revealed to supporters that United are in talks with a Premier League player. The player played against United last season and Hemmingham expressed the player had “ripped us apart on both occasions.”

Who could this be?

Could it be Reda Khadra?

Khadra is a 21 year-old German winger, who can also play the number 10 position. Khadra was signed by Brighton in 2020 from the Borussia Dortmund academy.

Khadra has only played u23’s football for Brighton, but last season he spent a full season on loan at Blackburn Rovers where he was a standout performer throughout the campaign, including two games against the Blades.

The young dynamic attacker scored against United last season in the 3-1 loss at Ewood Park. Later on in the season he played at Bramall Lane where United grinded out a 1-0 victory, with Khadra missing a penalty in that game, but still had a good performance.

If the Premier League player that United are monitoring is Reda Khadra, does that mean a change in formation is imminent, as United are already after a wide player in Tom Lawrence.

Could it be Keinan Davies?

Davies, 24, is a player that United have become familiar with over the last few years, and long-standing defenders Basham and Egan have probably had enough of facing him. He always seems to cause us problems whenever he’s faced us over the last few seasons.

The Villa man was sent on loan to Forest in January, and he was a key part of getting Forest to the play-offs. Davies scored 5 goals in 14 starts in the league on his loan spell, but it’s the physical and gruelling style that he plays with that causes defences all sorts of problems.

Davies is an explosive athlete, and nine times out of ten, he’ll shrug his man off and beat him in a foot race. He showed that in his three games against us last season. But could this player be Keinan Davies? Nathan Hemmingham detailed that the player “ripped us apart on both occasions”, Davies played three times, not twice.

Khadra and Davies are the two players that are currently Premier League players, and that played well against us last season on more than one occasion.
