Not since 1993 have Sheffield United lost to Yorkshire rivals Leeds, and the Blades will be hoping that this good fortune continues at the weekend.

It will be a return to Elland Road for Gary Speed, who is still held in high regard there from his playing days, and is sure to receive the most positive reaction of any previous Blades boss.

However, once the formalities are over, it’s the actions on the field that will matter to the travelling Blades faithful, as Speed looks to build on the victory over Portsmouth last week.

Nyron Nosworthy is expected to replace the injured Chris Morgan in United’s only change, and new signing Richard Wright should take up a position on the bench.

For the home side, new signing George McCartney should start in the problem left-back area.
