Blades Look At Summer Goalkeeper Options

The number one position has been under discussion for the last couple of years. United brought in Simon Moore in 2016, but, for the last three season, Sheffield United have turned to the loan market to ensure that the Blades have a quality keeper in the number one jersey.

The clubs first season in the Championship saw United draft in Jamal Blackman on loan from Chelsea, and in the last two seasons have enjoyed the save hands of Dean Henderson, on loan from Manchester United.

Blades supporters will be keen to make Henderson’s move a permanent one in the summer but could cost the club £30million, according to the Manchester Evening News. With the prospect of possibly playing European football next season (2020/21), the Blades may have to look elsewhere if United don’t get their target.

United have recently been linked with a move for Turkish keeper Ugurkan Cakir, 23, from Trabzonspor. He already has one cap for his country, and according to HITC, could cost United £17million to land his signature.

Henderson would be the obvious choice for United supporters but should that deal fall through, then looking into the European market may be the next best option.
