Sunderland’s current top goalscorer Ross Stewart is reportedly on the radar of Sheffield United.

The 26-year-old could have his current contract extended by an extra 12 months, due to an option in his contract, which could see him stay at the Stadium of Light until the summer of 2024.

However, the big Scottish forward is on the shortlist of Norwich City and Sheffield United, according to the Sunderland Echo

Since the start of last season, Stewart has been the main man who has led Sunderland’s forward line. Stewart has scored 31 league goals for the Black Cats during that time.

But this season has been difficult for Stewart, he suffered a thigh injury in the early stages of the season and he is still in his recovery process. However, he has still managed to showcase his menacing ability at the Championship level by making eight goal contributions in seven starts so far.

For United, they may chase down this possibility due to Billy Sharp being out of contract in the summer as well as current joint-top scorer Oli McBurnie. Although, there is more chance of McBurnie getting his contract extended over Sharp for various reasons: he is having a great season, and he is at a great age.
