Sheffield United are reportedly keen on bringing in Zurab Khizanishvili and/or Nyron Nosworthy as Kevin Blackwell looks to boost his defensive numbers.

Manager Kevin Blackwell has already hinted that three trialists from Europe will be looking to catch the eye, but the more established Premier League defenders continue to be linked.

Nosworthy spent the latter part of the season on loan at Bramall Lane where he impressed in the majority of his appearances.

Despite being told he’s able to leave the Stadium of Light, standing in the way of a move to Bramall Lane is a transfer fee above what the Blades want to dish-out. However, it appears a deal is getting closer for the former Gillingham man.

Meanwhile, Georgian international Khizanishvili has been told he’s allowed to leave Ewood Park despite having a year remaining on his contract. The centre-back spent time on loan at St James’ Park last season where he helped Newcastle United to promotion, but would be expected to take a significant pay-cut if he opted to join the Blades.
