Notts County’s Stephen Hunt is just one of a number of left-back supposedly being chased by Kevin Blackwell.

Negotiations are ongoing between United and current first-choice Gary Naysmith, but with the Blades interest in a number of names, it begs the question of just how many complications there are during the talks.

Naysmith’s current deal runs out this summer, but following an impressive return to the team, it’s thought Blackwell wants to keep the Scottish international on board.

However, with Andy Taylor and Jordan Stewart still with the club, only one more would really be required, yet new Reading signing Marcus Williams confirmed their interest in him.

When signing for the Royals, Williams stated that he had turned down other Championship clubs including United to go to the Madejski. Yeovil Town’s Nathan Smith is another name who has been linked with a move to Bramall Lane.

  • hunt is a decent young player, but with wendys financial worries i’d be very tempted to go in for spurr and beevers bet we could snip them both for a combined £2m. now that would be interesting!!

  • Neither player has set the world alight this season. Mark Robins wants Tommy Spurr, and that is a fact!

  • BFL, I dont think you are going to see fransfer fees in that region being payed this season. I would be upset if Blackwell wasted that kind of money on Spurr even if he could.

  • agree glou .. never rated spurr at all hes always seemed to get shredded whenever ive seen him live or even on the box…beever i think could be a good player, esp alongside a good partner but doubt we can afford him

  • watching the rotherham game and adam le fondre looks an absolute quality player, looks very simular to sharp but reckon he could be a decent signing for us. he’d obviouslly jump at the chance of coming to the lane. we could do a lot lot worse. probably get him for 150k

  • lol……..he’s just scored. this scouting is a right toss of job blackwell…..what’s all the fuss about.

  • think hed cost mroe than that – think rothers paid something similar to that for him!! plus keep him at rothers so he can bag some in their double over wendy next year!

  • the lads deffinately worth a gamble in the championship…ok then offer them 300k no way could rotherham afford to turn that down, especially when the player would be pining to go also. he could be a very shrewd signing indeed.

  • official blades website states boggy in talks looks like we are going to sign him…wonder if sharpmaybe be going in the other direction? i would be very dissapointed if that was the case.

  • on a different note lads been told (apparently its on eurosport website) that wendy have been selling away tickets at too high a price and that all fans after xmas whove been as a visiting supporter can claim £5 back on their ticket!!!! not called lane to check it but its defo on eurosport site…if everyone does it could cost them over £100k!

  • Gleadless, It was highlighted on another site about three weeks ago but I didnt take much notice. Poor old wendy, I almost feel sorry for them. Relegated, comic chairman resigns, US money withdrawn, ground crumbling, still £30m in debt, season ticket prices reduced, what few decent players they have on their way out……..How can we be so cruel ???…. I’ll be sending my stubs in for a full refund!!!! LOL, LOL.
