Sheffield United are believed to be watching Notts County defender Stephen Hunt.
Hunt, who has featured heavily in the Magpies promotion campaign this season has been attracting interest from a number of clubs across the country including Southampton and Derby County, but a move to Bramall Lane would surely provide a more exciting prospect.
With United’s recruitment drive imperative over the Summer, Kevin Blackwell has already expressed his desire to start early, and with yet more cost-cutting expected from the top, then players such as Hunt could be potential targets as the Blades boss looks to follow that formula that introduced Jamie Ward to the Bramall Lane faithful.
Following the announcement that Kasper Schmeichel will be leaving the club due to his excessive salary, Notts County could be looking to trim other areas at the club for quick cash, so the defender could be available at a cut-price should there be any substance to the early rumours.
