Speculation continues on the transfer front as to whether Sheffield United will sign Bosnian defender Anel Ahmedhodzic from French club Bordeaux with fellow Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers now knocking on the door – could this be another player Paul Heckingbottom will miss out on?

To date, the Blades had completed the re-signings of keepers Adam Davies and Jake Eastwood ahead of the 2022/23 campaign – though they seem poised to snap up midfielder Tommy Doyle on loan from Manchester City.

Having missed out on promotion last season The Blades will be eager to go one step further next time and are looking to add 21-year-old forward Jake Clarke, from Tottenham Hotspur to their squad. He joined Spurs from Leeds United in a £ 10 million deal in July 2019 but has yet to start for the Londoners. It is believed that they are prepared to allow Clarke to leave on a permanent deal. Since signing for Hotspur, he has enjoyed loan spells at Leeds, Queens Park Rangers, Stoke City, and Sunderland.

It remains to be seen whether the Blades are serious in their pursuit of Clarke but after United have disappointingly missed out on key targets, it would mean that the Blades mean serious business ahead of next season’s challenge.
