Sheffield United will travel to Victoria Park for the first round of the Carling Cup, after drawing Hartlepool United.

The Pools, who narrowly avoided relegation last season will host the Blades on the week commencing August 9th.

Despite not having any former Blades in the side, Sheffield United fan Ritchie Humphreys (previously of Sheffield Wednesday) is the club captain, ex Wednesday boss Christ Turner is ‘Director of Sport’ and Millers old winger Andy Monkhouse are all at the club.

Having never played in either of the top two divisions, Hartlepool and the Blades have only met on five occasions.

A 2-2 draw was played out in the League Cup in 1988 before the Blades won the second leg 2-0.
