Paul Heckingbottom could be dealt a huge boost on the injury front for the weekend as they host Blackpool. The Blades are winless in three games, since coming out of the international break.
A report from The Athletic has suggested that Jack Robinson, John Fleck and Anel Ahmedhodzic are all close to returning for the Blades. Additionally, Jayden Bogle and Sander Berge missed out last week against Stoke City with what was later described as “minor injuries”, United could see the duo return on Saturday afternoon.
Ben Osborn came off the bench in United’s 3-1 loss to Stoke City, his first appearance since recovering from his foot injury.
Unfortunately, it does seem like George Baldock won’t be featuring on Saturday due to a side strain.
It is about time United got a bulk of their squad back from the injury list, as they look for their first win in three games on Saturday afternoon at Bramall Lane.
If Ahmedhodzic is back for Saturday then that would be huge, he adds so much in terms of ball progression and chance creation, to say that about a centre-back is unheard of. This season when Ahmedhodzic hasn’t started, United have not won a game.
John Fleck being back involved would bolster the midfield options, and supporters may have forgotten that pre his leg fracture, he was one of the best performers in the entire league. Hopefully, he can get back up to speed quickly.
Having Jack Robinson back would help balance out the back line, having a naturally left-footed player down the left-hand side of the back three. His aggressive defending is key to grinding out wins when you’re under the cosh, this season United haven’t seen him due to a pre-season knee ligament injury.
