Sheffield United have completed the signing of Leeds United defender Neill Collins.

Collins, who spent a month at Bramall Lane during their promotion campaign back in 2006 has found himself down the pecking order at Leeds with the impressive form of Paul Connolly amongst others, and Micky Adams believes the 6foot plus defender will help bolster United’s threadbare defensive options.

‘Neill is someone we have identified as a competitive centre-half with leadership qualities and he knows this division’ said Adams.

Meanwhile, Collins himself added: ‘Obviously, I have been here before so in a way this is unfinished business for me. I have good memories of that short spell, especially the win at Sheffield Wednesday, so it is good to be back and hopefully I can go on and achieve more than I did then,’ said the Scot who admits that Micky Adams has impressed him already:

‘To be honest, I didn’t know a lot about him so I was keen to come down and see him face to face. The move came out of the blue really but I can see how passionate the manager is and that is how I am, too.

‘I can see something in him, he is building a good environment at a big club and there is a lot to suit me here.’
