Sheffield United are looking to complete a full transfer for Ismael Kone who applies his trade at Major League Soccer side CF Montreal – according to TSN.

The 20-year-old midfielder was born in Ivory Coast but qualifies to play for Canada, where he has made two caps for the North American nation.

It is expected that he will join the Bramall Lane club who are currently top of the Championship table ahead of this weekend’s fixture at Hull City. However, he is expected to be a replacement for Norwegian midfielder Sander Berge, who looks set to join Belgium outfit Club Brugge before the transfer window ends at midnight tonight.

The MLS season runs from March to October and to date, Kone has played 21 games this season, scored twice and assisted two goals according to WhoScored.com.

This summer, in July, it was announced that he would join fellow Championship outfit Norwich City, believed to be for around £5million, however, the Canaries pulled out of the deal and he remained with the MLS club.
