Blades bound? Duo chase signature of former Premiership ace

|

Since Sheffield United secured promotion to the Premiership little over a month ago, ending a twelve year absence, there is no surprise that the Blades headlines have been updated with rumours linking a number of players to the newly top flight club.

Like most supporters there is a list which I would love Chris Wilder to sign with Dean Henderson (from Manchester United) being top of the list.

One player who is unexpectedly not top of the list is former Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale, who is deemed surplus to requirements by top Spanish side Real Madrid.

Despite being linked with a move to return to UEFA Champions League runners-up Spurs, as well as several of the top Premier League clubs, the Blades – as well as fellow newly promoted club Aston Villa, have been linked with a shock loan move for the Welsh International, according to twitter site @transfer_first.

Vital View

There is no doubt that Gareth Bale is a talented individual who would walk into the majority (if not all) Premiership clubs, and is available by his club Real Madrid. But the Blades style of play requires any winger to not only attack but also defend, and despite his instinctive attacking abilities his defending is somewhat questionable, and doesn’t quite fit United’s style of play.

As for the rumour itself, I had to make sure it wasn’t 1 April before carrying on reading. It is highly unlikely that Bale would move to Bramall Lane, and should he return to England it will be at a top four club.

We predict that he may move to Chelsea who could use Eden Hazard’s impending departure to Real Madrid as a bargaining tool to bring in move needed players during a difficult twelve months to come, which will include a transfer embargo.
