Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock has been linked to the managers job at Portsmouth. The job is currently taken by Alain Perrin but the Frenchman is under enormous pressure from both fans and club owner Milan Mandaric.

Manderic isn’t slow in sacking his staff having already parted with managers Alan Ball, Tony Pulis, Steve Claridge, Graham Rix and Harry Redknapp since 1999. He cast doubt over the future of Perrin saying ‘Of course there is a lot of dissatisfaction I’m quite sure with our supporters with the results, especially in the last couple of games we’ve played. It’s something that needs to be looked at very closely and that’s why I am looking. I’m looking into the situation very carefully, with a lot of attention. I’m going to respond, I owe this to this club, the supporters and of course myself.’

Warnock has attracted attention having steered the Blades to the top of The Championship and with the board refusing to offer the popular boss a new deal, the links are bound to grow. His current deal ends at the end of the season. The Blades chairman Kevin McCabe said ‘As far as we are concerned the board has a fantastic relationship with Neil and will look again at the situation later in the season, as is the norm.’ and explained that they had an option on extending the deal but won’t be discussing any contracts until later in the season.

Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane is also being linked as a possible option, with the Daily Express claiming he is keen on a role as player-manager. George Burley who recently parted company with Hearts, has also had his name thrown into the hat by the press in recent weeks. Burley took Ipswich Town all the way into Europe and had a spell as manager at Derby County.

Have your say in our poll, should the blades offer Neil Warnock a new contract?
