One of Sheffield United’s standout players of the season thus far has been Rhys Norrington-Davies. The Welsh international has slotted in at the left side of the back three for a large part of the opening fixtures.

Due to the recent injury of Max Lowe, the Welshman has now been pushed forward into his more natural role at left-wingback.

The 23-year-old has started in all 9 of United’s Championship games, and he has displayed a much-improved presence down the left-hand side as opposed to last campaign.

Last season, Norrington-Davies offered high-energy performances, but he didn’t have the best end product when it came to delivery or passing selection. This season he has added a more finessed approach when he gets into the final third.

Norrington-Davies has displayed that he is one of the best players in the division when it comes to one vs one situations, defensively, as well as offensively.

Tuesday night against Swansea City was no different.

Paul Heckingbottom was full of praise for the 23-year-old Welshman, he told SUTV:

“He was excellent. He showed his athleticism, his running power and his desire.

“If anyone is going to go one to one against him they are going to be in for a tough day.

“I have been saying that to him for a long, long time and he is starting to believe it and understand that when we speak about standout qualities that you can bring better than anyone else I think that’s what he is beginning to believe.”
