A few days ago the Blades beat Fenerbahce but on Saturday, the final Saturday before the new season, Sheffield United were beaten by York City.

The Blades suffered a third pre-season defeat this summer when we were beaten 2-0 at Bootham Crescent.

After a goalless first half, which saw Nigel Clough make more than one enforced change, York made the breakthrough with Ryan Jarvis forcing home the opening goal.

Just past the midway point of the second half Jarvis was on target again, one against linking up with Meikle and securing the two-nil win.

Sheffield United: Howard, Alcock (McNulty 45), Harris, Wallace (Dimaio 38), Basham (Doyle 72, Flynn, Murphy (Porter 72), Scougall (McGinn 72), Baxter (De Girolamo 24), Collins, McGahey (Butler 72).
Unused: Willis.
