Paddy Kenny will today appeal his nine month drugs ban at Wembley, in the hope that his suspension will be reduced.

The goalkeeper goes into the hearing with the backing of the PFA and Players Union as he looks to reduce the ban he received for the use of Ephidrene.

Kenny maintained the argument that it was taken accidental, and the report from the FA hearing also noted Kenny’s ignorance in taking the substance, rather than a purposeful attempt to cheat.

Kevin Blackwell may attend the hearing which falls on the same day as the Blades travel to Blackpool, but only if it’s absolutely necessary.

‘If I have to go then I will go. I’ll be speaking to the people who are definitely going to be there to find out what they think is best.’

It’s believed the goalkeeer and his agent will use the Fabio Cannavaro case in his defence. The Italian defender recently failed a drugs test for a chemical that was found in a wasp sting remedy, but was let off without punishment.
