Could the famous red and white stripes once again be represented by a Currie? If newspapers and various websites are to be believed then Darren Currie could be on his way to Bramall Lane in the summer. It was reported yesterday that the former Ipswich Town winger and nephew of Blades legend Tony Currie was a target for Kevin Blackwell after he was released by Luton Town at the end of the season.

Currie was given his marching orders from Luton along with ex-Blades Don Hutchison & Paul Peschisolido, and reports suggest that Blackwell could be interested in the 33 year old winger.

Currie’s former teamate Dean Brill is still linked with United. Brill would not only provide cover for Paddy Kenny but could also push him for a first team place. Brill has shown promise over the last few years and played a blinder at Anfield earlier in the season in Luton’s defeat to Liverpool. It would probably see the end for Ian Bennett.

Another name linked with the Blades already is Darren Huckerby. The ex Coventry and Norwich City winger is also being looked at by Sheffield Wednesday, San Jose & Toronto FC. A move to America could be tempting for Huckerby as he enters the twilight years of his career, but if he believes he still has a year or two of competitive football in him, then Bramall Lane could prove an exciting move for the former Sky Blues front man.

The long term future’s of the players currently on loan are undecided also. Cotterill impressed towards the end of the season and would be welcomed back to Bramall Lane. Lee Martin struggled at the end with injury which prevented Kevin Blackwell getting a proper look at the young Man Utd winger. John Halls, slotted in to cover for Geary at Right Back and looked comfortable but was at more unease when he was moved into the middle.

Share your thoughts, on the above mentioned names as well as any other possible moves.
