The deal between Fulham and Sheffield United to bring Norwegian midfielder Sander Berge to Craven Cottage, potentially, could be off. However, last news has emerged that Newcastle United could stage a late bid.

The impressive midfielder was left out of Sunday’s thrilling FA Cup draw at Wrexham after it emerged he was having talks with Fulham regarding a move to the Premier League outfit. However, it has emerged that he has returned to training with the Blades today, which would appear that Berge will remain with the Blades.

That doesn’t mean other football clubs will not be interested. Newcastle United look set to offload 30-year-old midfielder Jonjo Shelvey to Nottingham Forest with the Magpies eager to replace him, and they may make a move prior to tonight’s 11:00 PM transfer deadline.   After tonight, they would have to wait until then summer to complete any potential deal.

Should Berge leave the Bramall Lane club and United can lift their transfer embargo, it has been reported that the Blades could make a move for James O’Brien at Nottingham Forest, initially on loan before completing a permanent deal in the summer.

Do the fans want him to go?

Simply, NO!

Under the stewardship of Paul Heckingbottom, the Blades have put themselves one of the best positions since Neil Warnock in returning to the Premier League. Whilst nothing is guaranteed at this stage it would be wise to retain your better players for the final push. Should United fail in their promotion bid then undoubtedly, they may have to revisit the possibility of offloading players in the summer.
