Sheffield United are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Chris Basham in the one nil victory over Port Vale at the weekend at Bramall Lane was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Basham was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Basham was a rock at the heart of the Sheffield United defence as they overcame Port Vale at Bramall Lane. The Valiants threw everything at the Blades but Basham and his team-mates held firm, and they got their reward when Billy Sharp grabbed the only goal of the game.’

It’s always good to see us represented in this way, and well played to Basham for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the three points.

Full Team:

Jordan Archer (Millwall), Chris Basham (Sheffield United), Shaun Brisley (Leyton Orient), Zak Vyner (Bristol City), Sam Morsy (Wigan Athletic), Peter Whittingham (Cardiff City), Andrew Tutte (Bury), Matt Palmer (Oldham Athletic), Adam Reach (Preston North End), Nicky Ajose (Swindon Town), Tom Cairney (Fulham).

Manager – Chris Wilder (Northampton Town).
