Sheffield United are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Chris Basham in the one nil victory over Ipswich Town at the weekend at Bramall Lane was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Basham was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Basham`s header four minutes after the break proved enough for the Blades to earn all three points against Ipswich Town at Bramall Lane. He carried out his defensive duties too, shifting from the centre to a right-wing back role as Chris Wilder’s men proved too solid to break down.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Basham for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Dan Bentley (Brentford), Leandro Bacuna (Reading), Ben Richards-Everton (Accrington Stanley), Chris Basham (Sheffield United), Matty Taylor (Swindon Town), Diogo Jota (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Luke Berry (Luton Town), Sammy Ameobi (Bolton Wanderers), Oliver Hawkins (Portsmouth), Tom Pope (Port Vale), Padraig Amond (Newport County).

Manager – Steve Cotterill (Birmingham City).
