Familiar problems are occurring with the Blades this season. Last season there was a huge injury crisis which saw the likes of loanees Ben Davies and Charlie Goode suffer knee injuries.

Jayden Bogle also suffered a knee injury, from which he is still recovering from, but he is almost 100% fit now.

News broke today that star defender of the Championship, Anel Ahmedhodzic, has suffered a thigh muscle injury which will see him out of action for roughly four weeks. Although two of those four weeks will be for the two-week international break.

It is thought that the Bosnian international will miss the first three games back after the international break which are: Birmingham (H), QPR (H) and Stoke (A).

With his injury, this leaves Chris Basham and John Egan as the club’s only two senior and recognised centre-backs. United currently have Ciaran Clark and Jack Robinson striving to get back to fitness.

The first game back against Birmingham City could see an interesting team being fielded due to the number of injuries in defensive positions.

This could provide youngster Kyron Gordon with a chance of first-team football. The 20-year-old centre-back played 5 games last season when United suffered several defensive injuries.

Gordon showed last season that he is a trustworthy defender, he clearly has ability and potential, but like all youngsters, sometimes he can be out-muscled when facing physical forwards.

Kyron Gordon was on the verge of signing for Tranmere Rovers for the season, this summer. However, Tranmere pulled out of the deal at the last minute which left Sheffield United and Kyron Gordon frustrated.
