Sheffield United striker Richard Cresswell insists he’s just happy to be playing, following a stint out wide in recent weeks.

The striker, who netted the Blades winner at the weekend, has proved to be a valued signing by Kevin Blackwell this season, and following his goalscoring exploits, there were question marks over his selection on the wing.

However, the frotnman, who has twelve goals to his name, the most since Stoke City’s promotion season in 2008 insists he’s happy in the wide berth.

‘On a personal level I’m really pleased with how things have gone.’

‘I’ve played a lot of games and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.

‘I’ve been asked to go out wide and through the middle but it doesn’t matter to me. Nor am I bothered who puts the ball in the back of the net. The only important thing is that it gets there.

Despite Cresswell’s personal achievement, the striker is disappointed his new club are set to miss out on the play-offs, following an injury list as long as the longest of arms.

‘The only thing that disappoints me is the fact we’ve not been able to sustain a challenge.’
