Micky Adams echoed much of the same sentiment following the Blades relegation yesterday, admitting everybody has to take some of the blame for United`s downfall.

Speaking after the draw with Barnsley, Adams said: ‘I am obviously devastated that such a fantastic club has been relegated and there are a lot of disappointed people in the dressing room.

‘We have played well in certain games since I have been here but we have not taken advantage of that at times. We haven’t scored enough goals, conceded sloppy goals and not won enough games so we have to accept that over 46 games we have not been good enough.

‘No club has a divine right to be in any division, you have to work hard to stay in them or get out at the right end, and a lot of us have to take collective responsibility, possibly me more than most.’

Adams also went on to praise United in recent games, claiming that with a full strength team they could compete with most in the league; he also hinted that the injection of youth in the place of expensive Premier League loanees has given everyone at the club a boost.
