Midfielder John Lundstram has reflected on a well earned but hard fought victory for Sheffield united United over Queens Park Rangers in midweek.

Hosting Ian Holloway’s side at Bramall Lane for the tie on Tuesday evening, the midfielder felt that we were certainly good value for victory on the day – even if Queens Park Rangers made it a tricky end to the game as the game drew to a close.

Richard Stearman had got us underway with his first half goal, and Lundstram doubled our advantage five minutes after the second half restart but Luke Freeman did get them a goal back to set up an interesting end to the match where we had to dig in deep at the back, but ultimately he felt the win was justified.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media, he was certainly on board with the fact it could be a very important three points when we reflect on the season come the summer.

‘Come the end of the season, we will look back on that as a well-earned, hard-fought victory. It wasn’t the cleanest of performances, but it was three points nevertheless. We shot ourselves in the foot conceding when we did and that gave them hope. But we defended well after that, we didn’t have too many scares really after the goal, so it’s well done to the defenders.’

As for his own goal on the day, Lundstram was just pleased to have made the contribution, especially as it became the strike that secured the win.

‘I’m pleased with the goal, it’s one I’d expect to finish, but it’s my first at the Kop end, so I’ll remember it. I really enjoyed the moment and it felt very special scoring at that end.’
