Sheffield United took another key Championship victory in last night’s clash against Brentford at Bramall Lane.

Securing a 2-0 victory with goals coming from Oliver Norwood (penalty 26th minute) and a late effort from David McGoldrick (84the minute), the game was far from easy in reality. The visitors pretty much dominated chances and possession on the day, in no small part owing to the fact that Gary Madine was shown a straight red card in the 35th minute.

It was a true rearguard action but we made our chances count when they came along and statistics website Whoscored acknowledged what was a gutsy but efficient showing from the players.

Jack O’Connell took their star man award with a player rating of 8.83 for his efforts and he was followed by Oliver Norwood (8.14), David McGoldrick (7.88), John Fleck (7.85) and goalkeeper Dean Henderson (7.76).

Despite the man’s disadvantage, Enda Stevens, Chris Basham and John Egan were all well in seven-plus scores for their showings and deserve special mentions.

As a comparison, despite their dominance on a stats front, they only had two players given seven-plus scores and that should speak volumes for the effort put in.
